The Ararat and Stawell Cross Country Club recently recognised a long-serving member with the highest individual honour.

After 35 years of service, Stephen Baird was awarded life membership at the club's 2021 presentation day.
SACCC president Shevahn Healy said Baird has been "a great member of the club".
"We (club committee) decided it was about time he was inducted, it was great for him to be recognised for all he does for the club," she said.
"He is quite active within the club, helping out where he can."

Ms Healy said Baird had been an unassuming loyal member of the club.
"He is always just a quiet guy who comes along and gives his best," she said.
"He has never been a massively fast runner but he always gives it his all."
Since joining the SACCC in 1986, Baird has amassed 400 club runs.
Baird has served 16 years on the General Committee, 13 years on the Track and Trophy Committee and three years as Senior Vice President.
He has also been a sponsor of Ararat's King of the Hill for 18 years.

The club also recognised the winners from their 2021 season.
"Normally we would have 20 races but due to the pandemic we were only able to get in 13," Ms Healy said.
Ararat local Gabriel Tonks won the Club Aggregate with 96 points and the Open Championship.
"At only 16 year old Gabriel Tonks did extremely well this year." Ms Healy said.
Nathan Bendelle won the Over 40's Championship.
Paula Pettingill was crowned the Ladies Champion and won the Over 50's Championship.
