Unit coordinator Warren Pitt said several new members have already started at the unit, with more expected to follow.
"Late last year we had 10 new members come through and we've got four new members ready to come on board. We're also expecting another four members in the next couple of weeks to join," he said.
The Ararat Unit has been increasing its efforts to connect with the community lately.

Mr Pitt said this has undoubtedly helped but also noted that external influences had also aided recruitment.
"We've been looking to get more people involved and give more exposure to what we're doing. Our Community Engagement Team has been really helpful," he said.
"I think the coronavirus has assisted us too, with more people being around and being aware of where they can volunteer their hours."
Mr Pitt said a significant focus at the unit would be on training the new members in the coming months.
OTHER NEWS:
"Crew Members Supervised is our first level, it used to be Fundamentals. That can mostly be done online and then we supplement it with in-person training on a Tuesday or Thursday night," he said.
"They can be either active or non-active members. With non-active, they can be in the comms room helping with administration, finances, or things along those lines."
The new members will also soon be able to enjoy improved facilities. In December 2020, the Ararat Unit secured $200,000 from the state government's Emergency Services Refurbishment Fund to conduct various repairs and replacement, including upgrading its changerooms.
