It was only a last-minute volunteer effort that pulled it all together.
This year it's a different story. Bolstered by new volunteers and government funding, the committee has been working hard for 12 months to put on the best country show it can.

"Last night (Wednesday) we had a big meeting with all the groups, like the floral displays and the tractor pull ... to finalise everything and everyone's just so thrilled," she said.
"We nearly lost this (show last year) and we were saying just how lucky we were to turn this around. Rotary has just been so supportive, saying we'll come and help you.

Mrs Allgood said there weren't "enough things for country people" and it was important to be able to have these big events.
"We've got a lot of things to offer," she said.
"We've kept our prices down because we want people to have value for money.
