Firstly, there was the shock loss to Caramut, and then a 21-point defeat at the hands of premiership contenders Lismore-Derrinallum.
The Lions have now slipped to third position on the Mininera District Football League ladder.
They are just one game clear of the chasing pack in that race for the top five at season's end.
A pleasing result to emerge from last week's defeat will no doubt be the return of the Lions' intensity around the contest which saw the young team shoot to the top of the ladder earlier in the year, winning seven games straight.
With five games left in the season, it will be a massive challenge for coach Will Bell and his troops to regain that mojo from earlier in the season.
Whatever they do, they will need to do it quickly, as the Lions look to make their first finals appearance in the Mininera District Football League since the club's inception in 2012.
While it will be a race against time to see if Great Western can regain some of their stars from injury in time for the finals, the impending inclusion of Tiwi Islander Dion Munkara is also an exciting prospect for the already-fast running outfit.
Dion is sure to provide some highlights for the Great Western faithful in the final few rounds.
He will be pivotal to the Lions' finals aspirations.
