Eight teams will compete in the knockout competition beginning on Sunday. Swifts-Great Western will take on South Gambier at Warrnambool’s A.H Davidson Oval in its do or die clash.
Combine captain Sam Cocks said he is looking forward to playing in the tournament for the second year in a row.
“If we win our first match we will go back the following Sunday to hopefully win again,” he said.
The Combine was able to make its way to the semi-final last season, but fell short by seven wickets with one over to spare.
The club receives a small financial incentive to play in the quarterfinals but moving deeper into the competition increases the amount money up for grabs.
“The total prize to win overall is $15,000 which would be fantastic for any country club,” Cocks said.
“Last year for just making the semi-final we made a couple of thousand dollars.”
Cocks said although the prize is a really big incentive to play, the team is looking forward to the competition.
“You get to play against some really good opposition,” he said.
The Combine was triumphant in the domestic Twenty20 competition over Youth Club in December to qualify for the competition.
