Year 12 student Holly Horsfall is making her theatre directorial debut in Robertson in a few months, and would love to get young Highlanders involved in the production. The Mittagong student is holding auditions for Scrabbled A New Musical this weekend in Bowral. The satirical comedy will open at the Robertson School of Arts in late May. "I love musical theatre, I love acting and performing and I love how stories can highlight emotions, when I am on stage it's the happiest place I can be," the upcoming director said. She said she wanted it to be a production by and for young people, and the opportunity for creators in the region to make it their own. Watch: No bull! Curious Charlie the bull gets rescued by the SES Holly's love of performing began after she attended a drama class and auditioned for a local production of the Sound of Music in her hometown Calgary, in Canada. The student has been involved in productions in and around the Highlands such as Grease Jr, Aladdin Jr, Anne of Green Gables and as Sophie in the Furey Theatre Company's adaptation of Mamma Mia. She also auditioned and was accepted into New York's musical theatre summer intensive BroadwayEvolved, which she attended over Zoom. The young Highlander began writing Scrabbled A New Musical three years ago, and is determined to support others who share her passion for storytelling. Scrabbled A New Musical tells the story of friends, Kiera, Cody, and Emma who wake up one day to find that they have been granted superpowers. Roger is their other friend who does not have a superpower, but who is "pretty good" at Scrabble. They have to find a way to protect Limesville from Dylan who is an an emo boy obsessed with world domination, and his weak accomplice Pin. Throughout their journey, the friends challenge the status quo and find the strength to become who they want to be.
