The Blue Ribbon Foundation has announced its winners of the Spirit of Sport awards across the Wimmera Football Netball and Horsham District Football Netball Leagues.

The awards are presented to junior athletes who showcase their sportsmanship, fair play and mutual respect.
WFNL Spirit of Football award winner

Horsham Saint Lewis Hofmaier has been presented with a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Football award.
Lewis is a first-year player at the club who has become instantly popular with his coaches and teammates.
The Saints commend Hofmaier for always being one of the first to arrive at training and games.
Lewis is fiercely competitive with his attack on the ball, and his willingness to put his team first makes him a weekly contributor to the Saints' success on the field.
He and his family have been a welcome addition to the club, and he is richly deserving of this recognition.

Edenhope Apsley netballer Holly Whitehead has received a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Netball award.
The club applauds Whitehead for being an exceptional player and an asset to the 17 and under side.
She quickly adapts her game and always seeks to improve where she can.
This is reflected in her nature to accept her mistakes and learn from them, never dropping her head.
Holly is determined to see her teammates succeed on the court and is always encouraging them to keep trying.
She is a wonderful friend to the other girls and brings a wonderful intensity to the game.

Minyip Murtoa's Mikaela Wright is a a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Netball award winner.
The Burras commend Wright for being a strong player who shines in defence.
Mikaela's drive and determination to her team along with her great sportsmanship and respect to all around her makes her a worthy recipient of the Blue Ribbon award.

Pimpinio under-17s footballer Jamie De Zoete is a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Sport award winner.
Jamie De Zoete and his family have been involved with the Pimpinio Football and Netball Club for many years.
After taking a year off due to work last year, Jamie has returned to football in the under-17s and has played a key role in the team's push towards the premiership this year.
The highlight of his career so far is undoubtedly experiencing a 2022 premiership alongside his late brother Trent (who also won this award in 2022).
The club believes Jamie thoroughly deserves this award.
He has a great work ethic and always puts his hand up to do whatever is required around the club.

Southern Mallee Thunder's Taya Horman has been presented with a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Netball award.
Fierce, determined and always curious about how she can improve as a player and a teammate, Taya exemplifies everything you hope to see in a junior player coming through the ranks.
Her enthusiasm and willingness to learn has also made her an ideal candidate to step up into the senior ranks, where she does not look out of place.
The club looks forward to Taya's continued development as a player and leader at the Thunder.

Laharum's Ava Bell has been presented with a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Netball award.
Ava started playing netball at nine years old for Horsham Demons in the Central Park comp and played there until 2019.
She then moved out to Laharum after COVID-19 in 2021.
The club credits Bell for being a determined, energetic player since she started playing.
Ava has won best and fairest and two runners-up for Laharum.
She is a quiet player who plays mainly goals and centre but plays wherever is needed, especially in her senior games.
Ava began senior netball last year in C Reserve, filling in and is now playing C Grade, which she enjoys very much, getting to play with a different group of ladies.

Warrack Eagle Lauren Clyne has received a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Netball award.
Lauren is a valuable team member of the Warrack Eagles' 17 and Under side.
The club describes Clyne as dedicated and passionate about netball, her team, and her club.
She is always willing to learn, teach, and help out where she can.
Lauren has also started umpiring some junior games on Saturday mornings to help out and give back to her home club.
She is a versatile player who could slot into any position on the court.
Lauren's commitment to her netball has led her to join the Eagles A Grade side and WFNL 17 and Under Representative Team, which is a testament to her hard work.
Clyne is a pleasure to coach, and the club looks forward to watching her grow even further as a netballer and seeing the wonderful things she accomplishes along the way.

Laharum's Archer Cameron has been presented with a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Football award.
Leading with his ferocious attack on the ball, Archer is an impact player who can single-handedly rip apart a game at any time.
According to the club, his footballing weapons include a damaging long kick, explosive gather and step, and clean disposal with excellent decision-making.
With an excess of raw talent, Archer could be forgiven for trying to do it all himself, but instead, he shows a willingness to be coached and to engage in any role needed for the team's benefit.
This team-first mentality and a genuine desire to get the best out of his peers means Archer is extremely well respected, both on and off the field, by his teammates, coaches, and supporters for how he carries himself.
Archer is engaging and humble and has found the perfect balance in a footballer - being someone you would hate to play against because of his skills but must respect because of his character.
Archer is a high-quality young man with a lot of good football in his future.
He is a deserving recipient of this award and someone the football club is extremely proud of.

Natimuk United's Cody Keddie is a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Football award winner.
In only his second year of football, Cody has had an outstanding season and displays dedication and a willingness to improve.
Having moved into the ruck this year, Cody's football has gone from strength to strength, being one of the club's most improved players.
Cody remains a pleasure to coach due to his commitment to improving his footy.

Warrack footballer Cody Polack has been presented with a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Football award.
Warrack Eagles Junior Football Co-Ordinator Graeme Holland gathered the players together and introduced Peter Taylor, who spoke about the award, what it stood for, the role of sportsmanship and the importance
of the simple things within the club.
Cody, who is playing in only his second season of football this year, has shown not only his talent on the field using his height as an effective ruckman and forward.
He has also been a spearhead off the ground, showing genuine care, compassion and wonderful leadership for his club, teammates, opposition players and the community.
Showing maturity beyond his years, Cody is a remarkable young man that the club can all aspire to follow, making him a worthy recipient of this award.

Swifts' netballer Amara Jagan has received a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Sport award.
The club sees Amara as a hardworking and invaluable member of our club, always ready to lend a hand where needed.
Her contributions are multifaceted; she serves as an assistant coach for our Mods team and is one of the team managers for our B Grade team.
On the court, Amara is known for her respectful demeanour towards her teammates, opponents, and umpires.
Her positive attitude and enthusiasm for the game are infectious, and she consistently encourages others to enjoy netball as much as she does.
Her commitment to fostering a fun and supportive environment has not gone unnoticed.

Horsham Demon Sienna Manserra has received a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Sport award.
The club sees Sienna as a talented and bright young netballer who shows great maturity and ability beyond her years.
She not only has natural talent, but she also shows fantastic sportsmanship, is fair, and plays and supports her team mates and her club with passion.
Sienna is always quick to help where needed and shows great leadership and support to her teammates and the club.

Natimuk United's Christian Macalinga has been presented with a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Sport award.
Christian is a young leader at the Rams and was nominated by the committee at the start of the year to represent the club as a junior ambassador.
He encourages his teammates on the field and is the first to put his hand up off the field.
Christian has a hunger to chase the football and to develop his skills.
Everyone knows who he is around the club and always comments on his friendly smile and that he always says hello.

Ararat's Isobel Leggett has been presented with a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Sport award.
Isobel is a player who shows great sportsmanship and determination every week.
According to the club, she is a pleasure to coach and always listens with an open mind.
Her positive attitude and constant encouragement towards her teammates is impressive to watch.
Isobel does a fantastic job of playing her attacking role but also does well when placed in defence.
The club looks forward to watching her continue to improve during the second half of the season and into her future years.

Natimuk United's Acacia Blake has been presented with a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Sport award.
Acacia has played all her juniors with Natimuk United and is also a member of the C Grade team in 2024.
The club sees Blake as a strong defender in the 17 and under team.
You will always see a smile on Acacia's face; she is very supportive and encouraging to everyone in her team.
Acacia also co-coaches the moddies with Emma Uebergang.
The club believes Acacia deserves this award with her leadership on and off the court.

Warrack Eagles' footballer Hayden Polack is a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Sport award winner.
Warrack Eagles Junior Football Coordinator Graeme Holland gathered the players and introduced Senior Constable Jazmin Zajac.
She spoke about the award, what it stood for, the community that we live in, the role of sportsmanship and the importance of the simple things within our club.
Hayden is a strong running midfielder with fitness and endurance.
He has been a leader on the field for the Eagles under-17 team, with many best-on-ground performances to date.
Hayden has also displayed sportsmanship throughout the season.

Rupanyup's Emma Gellatly has been presented with a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Sport award.
Emma began playing netball in 2021.
This year, Emma has played both 15 and 17 and under in defence for the club.
Emma is in the current 15 and Under HDFNL representative team, in which she enjoyed new friendships with girls from different clubs.
She is also a keen umpire and enjoys learning the fundamentals with the club's younger teams.
Her enthusiasm for all things netball means training and games are always met with a smile and excitement.

Horsham Saint Jake Brennan is a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Sport award winner.
Jake is a well-loved team member who is the first to put his hand up and help with jobs around the club.
He's hard at the ball, shows no fear and is a team player.
His love of the game shines through when he is asked to change jumpers in the event of a mercy rule, bringing others into the game through a selfless nature.
Jake will often arrive early for training, jump in to help with this year's under-14s where he can, and run water for the seniors regularly.
He's a credit to himself and his family, a pleasure to have at the club.

Dimboola's Indy Ward has been presented with a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Sport award.
Indy is the current captain of the Dimboola 17 and under team.
Having quietly made her way through the junior grades, she was selected in the 15 and under Wimmera Mallee Squad in 2022 and Wimmera 17 and under representative teams in 2023 and 2024.
Indy made her A Grade debut in 2023 and quickly became a starting seven player and is continuing this form in 2024.
She is always quick to help out where needed and shows great leadership and support to her teammates and the club.

Andrew Klee is a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Sport award winner.
According to the club, Andrew is a worthy recipient of the spirit of football award.
Having played all his football with the Nhill Tigers, it's been great seeing the improvement in his game.
He has great speed and agility to match his skills by foot and hand, which he was rewarded with by winning the Club U/14 best and fairest in 2023.
Andrew is continuing to have a great season thus far.

Horsham Saint Chelsea Ellis has been presented with a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Sport award.
Chelsea is an athletic defender that works well with her teammates.
According to the club, Ellis is fierce for the ball and uses her height to her advantage.
The club applaud her great sportsmanship and competitiveness.
Chelsea has been playing at a representative level since 15 and under's and has recently been selected in the Northern Zone talent academy and will be trailing for the U17's state team later this year.

Nhill netballer Milla Goodwin has been presented with a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Sport award.
The club credits Goodwin with showing growth in her netball, taking on direction, showing enthusiasm, and being willing to learn and develop.
Milla is a defender who puts in a consistent effort every game.
She has started training with the seniors as well as attending junior training.
This has resulted in Milla playing a game in a senior team this season.
Goodwin shows she is a great team player both on and off the court, encourages her teammates, and has a great positive attitude.

Kalkee's Mitchell Mills is a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Sport award winner.
According to the club, Mills is "Kalkee through and through" and has played all of his football in red and blue.
Mitch is a very worthy recipient of this award, with great leadership on and off the field.
He is always ready to put his hand up to help and is often seen running water, the boundary, or just doing odd jobs throughout the day to help out where he can.

Minyip Murtoa footballer Jonathon Baker has been presented with a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Football award.
When anyone thinks of Jono as a footballer, they think of his toughness in the contest.
However, the biggest attribute of his game is his willingness to do what is best for the team, the club said.
The care to put his teammates before himself is a testament to him and gives the rest of the team enormous confidence.
Jono and his family have been lifelong supporters of the Burras, and you will always see them helping around the club.

Pimpinio's Ava Fitzgerald is a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Netball award recipient
This is Ava's first season of netball at Pimpinio, having moved from the Horsham Demons to play with some friends.
Ava is a very quiet player on the court verbally, but her presence is certainly known as she moves around the court to take interceptions.
According to the club, Fitzgerald's main asset is her ability to read the play as the ball moves down the court.
Her favourite position is defence, but she has also seen herself in centre and in the goals this season and gracefully slotted into those positions.
Ava also plays defence in our B Grade team and has shown she can certainly hold her own there.
Ava is a pleasure to have around the club, and the Tigers look forward to watching her grow and develop even more as a player as the season progresses.

Laharum netballer Tarah Bond has received a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Netball award.

Bond started playing at about 10 years old and played under-13 and 15s with Dimboola.
Tarah started with Laharum in 2024 and has loved making new friends and has enjoyed the opportunity to play junior and senior netball each week.
She works hard on her fitness and goal accuracy during the week, so she can improve on weekends and support her team in having some wins.

Laharum footballer Chase Whelan is a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Football award winner.
He leads by example both on and off the field and always offers his services in voluntary roles when not required to play.
Whelan is always encouraging to his peers, respectful to others, and is well known for bringing his younger teammates into the game.
Chase has always played the game fairly and is well-respected by his opponents.

Lilly has played all her juniors with Taylors Lake along with her sisters.
The Weir family are a special part of the club.
Lily is a is a versatile player with the ability to play every position on the court, and encourages and is supportive of her teammates.
She gives her all at training and match day, always listening and working hard to improve her game.

Southern Mallee Thunder under-17s football Jamie Eckermann has received a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Football award.
The club regards Eckermann as one of his sides' toughest players.
Jamie is always fair in the way he plays by going for the ball and putting his body on the line, which is why he was voted as vice-captain by his teammates.
He has been a consistent player for his team, and the Thunder are looking forward to seeing what he can do for the rest of the year.

Harrow Balmoral netballer Tara McIntyre is a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Netball award winner.
Tara started playing netball at the age of 9 in the Horsham City competition on Saturday mornings, then played for Horsham for four years before coming to Harrow Balmoral.
According to the club, she has played both ends of the court but loves the challenge of playing in the goals more.
Tara strives for her best every week, and her love for the sport continues to grow every year.
This is Tara's last year of playing junior netball, so her goal this year is to show leadership and encouragement to fellow team members.

Edenhope Apsley footballer Oliver Dunstan has received a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Football award.
The club commends Dunstan for being a talented young footballer who conducts himself with sportsmanship and respect on and off the field.
He is always dedicated to his training and games and is a role model for his teammates.

Southern Mallee Thunder netballer Nekeisha Bastin is a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Netball award winner.
Bastin is an all-rounder and can comfortably play in most positions on the court.
She leads by example and is a smart player who uses space well and feeds beautifully to her shooters.
Her defensive pressure on the court also picks up many valuable intercepts.

Dimboola footballer Marcel Badua has received a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Football award.
Marcel is a new player to the club from the Jeparit Rainbow Storm.
He is an enthusiastic team member and is always available for any job around the club.
Marcel has the athletic ability to run all day and chase down larger opponents.
According to the club, his most valuable asset is his ferocious attack on the football within the rules of the game.
Marcel always ensures he plays fairly and within the spirit of the game.
He has worked incredibly hard this year to improve all aspects of his football, which has paid off.

Natimuk United 17 and under netballer Phoebe Sudholz is a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Netball award winner.
Phoebe has played all her juniors with Natimuk United and is also a member of the B Grade team in 2024.
According to the Rams, she is a versatile player who can play every position on the court, but she is seen mostly in centre for her 17s team.
Sudholz is the captain of the team and is encouraging and supportive of those around her.
Phoebe is a reliable player who gives her all at training and on match day.
She always listens and works hard to improve her game.

Natimuk United Under 17s footballer Ned Glascott is a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Netball award winner.
Ned has played all his life at Natimuk United and is always keen to learn and develop his skills on the field.
He has been selected in the HDFNL interleague teams and has trained with the GWV Rebels' development teams.
On the field Ned is always supportive of his teammates, encouraging them and taking the time to make sure they are enjoying their footy.
Off-field Ned put his hand up to do extra jobs around the club, run water, wash dishes and even cooks the bacon and eggs each week.

Taylors Lake Swifts U/17 footballer Lachie Kenyon received the HDFNL Blue Ribbon Spirit of Football award for round one.
Kenyon started playing football with the Swifts in 2021 in under-14s.
The club said he is a quality player and quiet achiever who has made significant contributions to the junior program since he arrived at Swifts.
His natural leadership qualities have earned him a leadership role this season in the under-17s team.
His exceptional skills, creativity, and run out of the midfield set him apart.
The Swifts are delighted with Lachie's progress and eagerly anticipate his transition to senior football, where his promising future awaits.

Edenhope Apsley 17 and Under netballer has received a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Netball award.
Linto is a valued member of the Saints' 17 and under netball side.
She leads on the court with a strong and supportive approach toward her team.
Layla never drops her head or lets frustration get the better of her whilst on the court.
She persists when challenged, and always gives her best effort and encourages others to do the same.

Gibson Perry has received a Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Football award.
Perry is a valued club member; he joined the club three seasons ago from Laharum in the Horsham District Football Netball League.
He has returned this season bigger and stronger after he missed the second half of last year with a broken ankle.
Perry kicked five goals in round one, and the club is excited to see what his future football will bring.

Horsham Demon Zarli Knight has received a WFNL Spirit of Netball award.
She stands out as a strong attacking player in netball.
With her natural talent and determination, she is a pleasure to watch.
The Demons see Knight's movement across the court as one of her biggest assets, and her eagerness to continue to push herself to play better netball.
Zarli consistently plays a fair game and demonstrates respect for her opponents.
It is no surprise to the club that Zarli has been honoured with the Blue Ribbon award, acknowledging both her talent and character.

Kalkee netballer Cadi Streeter has received the Blue Ribbon Spirit of Netball award for round two of the HDFNL.
"I feel very honoured to receive this award; I love netball and playing for the Kalkee Football and Netball Club," Streeter told the club.
"I have been playing with Kalkee since the very beginning of moddies netball in 2016. Since this time, I have been fortunate to play alongside the same teammates for most of my netball.
"During my time at Kalkee, I have been supported by the best coaches, who can take a lot of credit for the player I have become today."
