COUNTRY music legend Troy Cassar-Daley has topped a star-studded list of nominees for the 2022 Toyota 50th Golden Guitar Awards.

Cassar-Daley snagged eight nominations with his album The World Today, which debuted at number three on the ARIA's Top Album Chart, scoring nominations in the Alt Country Album of the Year and Toyota Album of the Year categories.
The red carpet was rolled out at Tamworth Town Hall, with past winner Kirsty Lee Akers and husband Jesse Anderson as host, fresh from an appearance on television show The Block.

Nominees were selected from more than 760 entries, which is the biggest number in Tamworth Country Music Festival history.
Also picking up a swag of nominations is The Wolfe Brothers, with their nostalgic, 90s inspired album Kids on Cassette putting the duo up in seven categories.
Their 5th studio album is nominated in the 2022 Toyota Golden Guitar Awards Contemporary Country Album of the Year and Toyota Album of the Year categories, while the title track Kids on Cassette is up for APRA AMCOS Song of the Year and CMT Video of the Year.
Shane Nicholson is up for five Golden Guitar awards including Male Artist of the Year, Alt Country Album of the Year and Toyota Album of the Year for his 9th studio album Living in Colour.
His track And You Will Have Your Way is nominated in the APRA AMCOS Song of the Year and Apple Music Single of the Year categories, and he is also up for Male Artist of the Year.
Meanwhile Felicity Urquhart and Josh Cunningham are nominated for Country Music Capital News Group or Duo of the Year.
The duo's album, The Song Club, is up for Alt Country Album of the Year and Toyota Album of the Year and their track Spare Parts nominated for CMT Video of the Year.
Adam Harvey, who picked up three nominations, said after a crazy twelve months he's delighted to see the return of live music.
"I have been so looking forward to the Tamworth Country Music festival," he told the Leader.
"The way I see it, it's like a light at the end of the tunnel, and we've all been in some pretty dark places in the music industry. It's been decimated.
"But this is kind of like a restart for all of us in the music industry."
Rising folk and country artist Angus Gill was incredibly proud to pick up four nominations including Traditional Country Album of the Year for his bluegrass inspired album, The Scrapbook.
He's also up for a Golden Guitar for Bluegrass Recording of the Year (Always on the Run), Bush Ballad of the Year (The Easy Way) and Instrumental of the Year (Musterin' season with Linsday Waddington).
Tamworth's two-time Golden Guitar Award winner Aleyce Simmonds said she's never been more excited to be celebrating country music.
"The vibe in the room was amazing, it's so exciting to be back after such a long time, with COVID putting everything on hold," she said.
"I'm looking forward to seeing all the people we have missed at the festival the past few years. I myself have been coming to the festival for over 30 years and it was such a loss last year not to have it."
Multi Golden Guitar Award winner and The Block contestant Kirsty Lee Akers said 2022 will mark her 31st Country Music Festival, and it was a pleasure to host the event.
"The Country Music Festival holds a very special place in my heart," she said.
"I've been coming my whole life, and I know this January is going to bigger and better than ever."
The finalist announcement was live-streamed to audiences across the country and overseas, with performances by Luke O'Shea and Ashleigh Dallas and rising star Cass Hopetoun.
Troy Cassar-Daley was unable to make the trip to Tamworth due to Queensland border restrictions, and appeared via video link for a special performance.
Presented by Tamworth Regional Council and the Country Music Association of Australia, The Toyota Golden Guitar Awards are the nation's longest running music awards.
Winners of the Golden Guitar Awards will be crowned at the TRECC on January 22 during the 50th anniversary festival. Adam Harvey and Beccy Cole have been announced as the award's hosts.
More than 30 artists picked up nominations including Tamworth local Ashleigh Dallas, Fanny Lumsden, Ian Moss and Amy Shark (feat. Keith Urban).
