Ararat Meat Exports director Michael Stapleton confirmed to the Ararat Advertiser on Thursday afternoon that they had been notified by Department of Health authorities that they are classified as a tier one exposure site.
Mr Stapleton confirmed one of their cleaning crew employees has tested positive to COVID-19.
He said the worker operates separately to most other staff in the factory and they have been told by the Department of Health authorities that there is a relatively "low-risk" of transmission.
People at risk of catching the virus from the worker have been placed into isolation and every pre-caution is being taken.
The business are awaiting further instruction from authorities.
The site is not yet listed on the Department of Health website and the positive case is not listed on the Department of Health website under the Ararat postcode yet.
Anyone exposed to a tier one site must get tested immediately and quarantine for 14 days from exposure.

Two COVID-19 exposure sites have been listed on the Department of Health website on Thursday afternoon.
Priceline Pharmacy Ararat at 119 Barkly Street, was added to the growing list of regional exposure sites on Thursday.
A positive COVID case attended the venue between 2:50pm - 4:00pm on Monday September 27.

A second site exposure site was also added on Thursday after a positive COVID case attended Woolworths Ararat from 3:00pm - 4:00pm on Monday September 27.
Both sites have been classified as as tier two.
If you attended the sites at the critical times you are to get tested urgently and isolate until you have a negative result.
You should also continue to monitor for symptoms, get tested again if symptoms appear.
The two exposure sites were added to the Department of Health's exposure site list at 3:05pm on Thursday, September 30.
There are no active COVID cases listed under the Ararat postcode (3377).
