Ararat junior footballer Sonny Kettle has taken home the round 10 Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Sport award for football.
The Ararat Rats Football Netball Club congratulated the "stand out" midfielder on winning the award, lauding Kettle's dedication to the side.
"Sonny is very much a team player and it is easily seen through the dedication and support he shows towards his teammates on and off the field," the club said.
"Sonny has been playing at Ararat for 3 years now, with last year unfortunately interrupted by COVID-19."
"In Sonny's first year at Ararat he was awarded the Best and Fairest for the Ararat U/14s Football competition,"
"(Sonny is a) Well-deserved recipient of the award and Ararat are blessed to have a player like Sonny around. Well done, Sonny!"
The Blue Ribbon Spirit of Sport Awards were created to "reward young participants in team sport for sportsmanship, fair play and mutual respect".
A medal is presented each week to a junior player between the ages of 15 to 18 from any club, who has shown exemplary sportsmanship and fair play.
Victoria Police said the award is to ensure "junior sport is linked to promoting fairness, mutual respect and enjoyment of sport, rather than winning at all costs".
