Emergency services rescued a driver trapped in their car near Armstrong following an accident on the Western Highway on Thursday, June 17.
A CFA spokesman said the authority were alerted to the accident at 12:50am.
CFA and SES members worked to free a person trapped in a vehicle that had collided with a tree, the spokesman said.
Crews from both Great Western and Ararat brigades attended the scene, along with Ambulance Victoria and police.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson told the Ararat Advertiser on Friday, June 18, that the driver -believed to be a man in his 20s - was in a in a serious but stable condition.
The spokesperson said the driver had been assessed for head injuries at the scene, before being taken to Ballarat Base Hospital.
