The Lions confirmed Adam Tipungwuti, the younger brother of livewire Essendon forward Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti, has flown down to Victoria and joined the club for the 2021 season.
Tipungwuti has played for the Sydney Swans and NT Thunder at state level in the NEAFL, as well as with North Melbourne in the VFL, and now he will join the MDFL.
Great Western senior assistant coach Matt Delzotto said the club was looking forward to seeing their new recruit in Lions' colours.
"He is a bit of an excitment machine really, he plays forward-mid and just has electric speed and incredible skills, so he is a pretty significant talent," he said.

"Just before COVID-19 hit, he was looking to have an opportunity with North Melbourne, but he had to go home because the VFL season wasn't going ahead.
"We are very excited to have him in and see him settle in with the Lions."
Delzotto said the club helped attract him to the region through a number of their players who have met him while playing football in the Northern Territory.
"Nigel (Sibson) has known Adam for years and Damon (Folkes) was able to get to know him over the summer," he said.
"He is quite good friends with some players who were with the club in 2019, so he has had a few connections to the club and enjoyed watching what the boys did in 2019 and he was keen to get the boots on."
Thanks to the latest COVID-19 restrictions, just when the MDFL season resumes remains to be seen, but fans of the Lions will be keen to see Adam Tipungwuti in action as they strive for consecutive senior premierships.
"We have been in a position to win most of our games this year and we have played some strong talent already," Delzotto said.
"It is a evenly spread season so we will have to work pretty hard to be around the mark come finals time, but we think we have a squad to do it."
