Cr Armstrong was appointed to the Senior Vice President position at the party's 104th State Conference, making her the second in line behind Neil Pankhurst.
The mayor said the new executive position would allow her to continue championing for country Victorians.
"I'm passionate about regional and rural Victoria and this position is a great opportunity for me to continue my advocacy work," she said.

"The role won't compromise my position as an Ararat councillor. The great thing is I can continue to work hard in the community and still have a voice within management."
The Ararat councillor is no stranger to the National Party, having run for an upper house seat in the Western Victoria region during the 2018 state election.
