Councillors determined sealing Hadland Street was not a priority at their meeting on Tuesday, May 18.
However, councillors resolved to consider Hadland Street as part of the review of crucial unsealed roads and laneways during the 2021/2022 financial year.
Council officers will undertake a study of vehicles using the street during the next three months.
Cr Beales moved the motion recommending these actions be taken. He said it was important for the council to take a considered approach towards such issues.
"This year I've walked this road twice, so I know it relatively well. It's quite sparsely housed along the street," he said.
OTHER NEWS:
"The road is actually in very good condition, unlike some in the past.
"But the issue for me is that we don't have an ad hoc response to the nosiest squeaky wheel. There's a process being put in place to look at all our roads and prioritise the need, and if the need is sufficient this road will get up, if it's not, it won't disappear from the radar."
Cr Waterston seconded the motion and also attested to the road's condition.
"I also drove Hadland Street and I believe it's in pretty good nick and doesn't need much work at the moment," he said.
The motion was unanimously carried.
