Stawell owner/trainer Ray Harvey, last weekend made another successful interstate raid when his 5yo gelding The Penny Drops strolled to victory in the $30,000 SA Trotters Cup at Globe Derby Park.

The consistent square-gaiter had captured both the Gramel and Gawler Cups earlier in the year and made amends for a very close second in the 2020 edition of the Group Two feature with a faultless display of trotting.
Harvey said that he would be giving The Penny Drops a decent spell after having raced regularly throughout the past twelve months. The paddock will be just reward for giving plenty of joy to Harvey and co-owners Morira Hateley, Jim and Val Pickering.
Armstrong trainer Leroy O'Brien and driver Kerryn Manning combined for an all-the-way victory on Tuesday night at Ararat with Tell A Tall Story in the $7000 3YO Maiden Pace.
The gelding had disappointed on debut at Terang 12 months ago but showed the benefit of a long spell when he returned to the same track recently for a solid second placing.

Manning took Tell A Tall Tall Story straight to the lead from gate four and set a steady tempo throughout the 2195 metre contest.
The combo crossed the line 20 metres clear of their rivals, in a rate of 2 minutes dead, serving promise of more in store for the beautifully bred son of boom stallion, Captaintreacherous US.
Ararat horseman Michael Bellman rarely misses out on a home-track visit to the winner's circle and Tuesday night was no exception as he reined 6yo gelding Icicle to victory in the $7000 Bring on May, Pacing for Pink Trotters Handicap.
After making a safe getaway from the 20 metre handicap and dodging a couple of gallopers early in the contest, Bellman and Icicle settled midfield and steadily worked forward to be perfectly poised two back in the running line at the bell.
Given more rein at the 600 metre mark, Icicle swept to the lead top of the straight and went on to score by six metres from Down Under Earl (Jackie Barker) and Jayden Gil (Jason Ainsworth). Bellman has partnered Icicle in 5 of its 10 career victories for trainer Geoff Senior.
Terang district stables hit the leader's board at Ararat with three wins for the night. Barry Beasley's 4yo gelding Tedkane broke through at its 20th attempt with Jackie Barker in the sulky, trainer Marg Lee's very promising 4YO gelding Keayang Marven made it two from two with Codi Rauchenberger aboard and Madazalways bought up a well-deserved victory in the Claiming Pace for trainer Matthew Horsnell and driver Glen Craven.
They're off at Stawell (D) on Monday, April 26 (Kaye Matthews Tribute); Mt Gambier (N) Tue April 27; Maryborough (D) Friday, April 30, and Terang (N) Tuesday, May 4.
