IMPRESSIVE bowls rolled down the rink on the final day of the Wimmera region bowls state events on Monday.
Men's state fours, state mixed pairs and ladies state fours were all battled out on the rinks.
Pam Weir, Maureen Petschel, Elaine Fuller and Debbie Lowe couldn't get their run on in the ladies state four event, eventually falling agonisingly short to Wendy Miles, Gwen Colwil, Bev Makin and Loma Wallis 9-18.
In the men's state fours event Stawell's Neil Coates, Gary Blackman, Andrew Sharp and Andrew Cray proved too good for Wedderburn's L Witham, N Holt, M Hall and A Cagerta.
The state mixed pairs delivered a few lopsided matches.
On rink 13 Ararat's Karen Brennan and Stan Meale went up against Betty Cozens and Geoff Inglis. Brennan and Meale were too good on the day claiming victory 17-9.
Debra Steed and Calvin Pendlebury advanced to the final over Merlyn and Alan Franks with a 21-9 win.
With some great bowling from Brennan and Meale the team were up 27-7 over Steed and Pendlebury with two ends to go. The match was called over with a victory to the Ararat players.
Players who won across the weekend will now travel to Bendigo and compete with the top 16 players and teams from across the state.
