The loss has seen Chally drop out of the top four and they will need to have a very good win over Stawell in the last round to have any chance of playing in the finals this year.
Aradale's Nugget Oehm's has continued on his winning way with a good win over Chris Young by five shots, Gary Sherwell returned to the winners list this week with a seven-shot win over Gary Todd and Shane Todd got some points for Chally to keep their finals chances alive.
Ararat has provided another upset two weeks in a row by managing a draw with Ararat VRI. Richard Fisher is a top bowler on his home track and got some points over Shane Briggs by 3 shots. Mick McGuire also got some points for Ararat by 5 shots over Mark Griffits and VRI's Clayton Holcombe evened up the contest with a 8 shot win over Kerryn Gellie.
Stawell Golf also got back on the winners list and moved back into the top two position with a straight sets win over Lake Bolac, Gary Blackman is in good touch at the moment and his rink secured the points by nineteen shots over Ian Parks rink, Dave Kaczynski snuck home by 1 shot and Greg Reading had a good win by ten shots.
Stawell were at home and were keen to get a good win over the bottom placed Landsborough to help move back into the top four, Grant Seeary had a big 26 shot win over Ben Hodgetts, Andrew Cray had a good win over Wil Hodgetts by 14 shots and the Landsborough rink skippered by Peter Brown who were successful in getting a win the week before went from a Rooster to a feather duster with a 52-9 loss to the Andrew Sharp skipped rink.
The last round has plenty of interest to finalise the positions of the top four. Aradale only needa to win one rink to secure a top two position so they look to have done enough.
Stawell Golf will travel to Ararat who have hit some late season form, with the Golf side needing a win to secure it's top two position. A loss will make it venerable to the third placed side VRI who need to defeat Aradale and win at least two rinks and a draw to pass Aradale on the ladder to sneak into the top two position. A victory will see it needing Ararat to defeat Golf to have any chance of passing them on the ladder.
Fifth-placed Chalambar is at home and will also needs a good win over Stawell to have any chance of getting back into the finals
Division 2
The top four teams went into battle this week with the top team playing second and third playing fourth.
Lake Bolac Black got a close 4 shot win over Stawell Golf with Bolac evergreen Jack Veale having a good win by 11 shots.
Barry Veale managed a nine-shot win for the home side to set up the victory, Ross Dobson for Golf tried to bridge the gap in the scores but the margin was to big even for him to cross.
Lake Bolac Red welcomed Stawell and it was the visitors who got all of the points, Donnie Austerberry was the best for Stawell with a 17 shot win.
MAKING NEWS:
The victory has secured the top spot on the ladder for the Stawell side. Ararat VRI at home fell short of a victory from the visiting Ararat side Laurie Tonkin was the main difference between the two sides with a 1- shot win with the other two rinks have close matches. Aradale had the bye.
The ladder positions and the matches in the final round have a lot of interest. Lake Bolac Red and Black will play eachother, with the winner to secure the second position on the ladder, while the loser will be in jeopardy of missing the finals depending other results.
Stawell Golf will need to defeat Ararat at the Golf green or they may in trouble of missing finals. Ararat can make the finals by defeating Golf. Aradale will play bottom side VRI and with a win will be in with a great chance of progressing into the top third or fourth position.
