Kmart will begin preparations at the site on Monday, January 18, - after its Saturday, January 16, closure and is planning to open in early February.
Before the store's opening, Kmart will announce official staff recruitment and retention numbers.
Kmart Australia and New Zealand retail director John Gualtieri said the changes to the store would be gradual.

"We can't wait to welcome the community of Ararat to our brand-new concept K Hub store," he said.
"We're giving the store a 'light touch' makeover for now, so that we're not inconveniencing the community with a long store closure.
"But we have big plans to evolve the look and feel of this store over time."
The store's rebranding was announced in May 2020, when Target revealed that between 122 and 167 of its stores would be either converted or closed.
Mr Gualtieri said customers would still be able to pick up Target products from the store that they purchased online.
"K hub customers will be able to pop in and visit our teams in store, or shop Kmart's entire product range online using home delivery or click and collect services," he said.
"We'll be using our hub store as a collection point for online Target orders too; giving customers easy access to two of our key Kmart Group brands."
