"I'm sure it will be a success and it will be a constructive way in which party members can have that input," Labor leader Anthony Albanese told the ABC on Tuesday.
Around 400 delegates will gather for the two-day conference, which was due to be held in Canberra in December this year but was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The party's national executive will discuss arrangements for the conference at a meeting on Friday.
During the pandemic, work has continued among the Labor faithful on proposals to be debated and approved at the conference, ranging from climate and energy to social and economic policy.
The next federal election could be held as early as August 2021.
