Police allege the perpetrators first stole a silver dual cab Ford F250 from Playford Street in Stawell at around 12.05am.
The offenders then broke into Baker Automotive on Thornfield Street, stealing "a large amount of mechanical tools" and an SS Holden Commodore from the premise.
Northern Grampians Criminal Investigation Unit Detective Senior Constable Mal Wineberg said the vehicles were then seen leaving that address at around 1.30am and driving toward St Arnaud.
"At approximately 2.15am on the same morning, the F250 was sighted in St Arnaud at a transport business on the Sunraysia Highway where once again mechanical tools were the target," he said.
"They also stole a 2008 Ford Futura from that business.
"They then left from there in an unknown direction. They were last seen heading towards the Bendigo turnoff."
