"I think that which is currently happening is already very, very over the top," Low's former assistant Flick said after the team drew 3-3 with Switzerland in the Nations League. "Jogi has done a sensational job as national coach."
Flick was speaking a day after Low, the man who led Germany to their World Cup win in 2014, found himself again being criticised after Germany's defence, in particular, struggled against the Swiss.
Flick, who led Bayern to their Champions League triumph, was assistant to Low when Germany won in 2014 and was critical of some experts "who have not had a ball on their foot for 25, 30 years."
He also recalled those pundits now chipping in from the outside reacted badly to such comments when they played.
"And, whoops, now they're on the sidelines themselves and throw out one thing or another," Flick said. "That does not necessarily do German football or the situation any good."
Among others, Lothar Matthaus, Dietmar Hamann, Olaf Thon, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Berti Vogts have all weighed in.
"You have to go back a little bit and take a little bit of the edge out," said Flick. "We have to look that we stay factual and go into things together."
