At just 19 years of age, Abbey Moar opened Bright Beauty on Barkly Street, last Thursday.
"I decided at the start of this year that I wanted to get into beauty, so I went out and did a course," Ms Moar said
"I started out doing eyelash extensions and fell in love with the industry.
"I was just doing it from home at the start and then decided to take the next step and get a shop ... I registered for the business name at the end of February.
"I am only 19, so it's a bit scary at the moment, but it's a very exciting time seeing what the future holds."
At 15 years of age, Ms Moar was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and has adapted her diagnosis into her everyday life.
"I am proud of what I have been able to achieve in such a short amount of time, especially juggling diabetes and then starting my own business," she said.
"I am juggling two jobs at the moment. I am also working part-time at Grampians Insurance Brokers."
Ms Moar specialises in classic extensions, brow waxing and tinting, spray tans, lash lifts and facial waxing.
"I went down to Melbourne for a day course. I have done a couple of online courses online as well," she said.
MORE NEWS:
"I am actually going down to do another course this weekend, to look at different options and see what's in trend at the moment.
"It's popular right now because people haven't been able to get treatments done and now they are allowed out," she said.
"I hope to have a successful business and to eventually get a team behind me as well."
