Ararat Rural City Council has been successful in their application for funding to create a new dog park through the Victorian Government's Suburban Parks Program.
"This park is going to compliment the Alexandra Gardens and give dog owners the ability to give their pet some freedom," said Ararat Rural City Council chief executive Tim Harrison.

The park will have open free-range space for dogs to play, as well as a skills area for owners to teach their dogs some new tricks.
The park design includes shrubbery all the way around the park to prevent distractions for dogs, drinking facilities and a double-layered gated entry to prevent escapes.
Construction on the project is set to commence in October and is hoped to be completed early next year.
The State Government has provided Ararat Rural City Council with $85,000 - the project will help create jobs for locals and relieve some of the economic impacts caused by the coronavirus.
The $2.5 million investment is part of the Government's Building Works package, which is providing $2.7 billion towards projects to get thousands of people back to work.
The 17 dog parks funded under this stimulus package are in addition to the 16 already announced, bringing the total number of new dog parks to 33.
The dog park locations were chosen through an expression of interest process with local councils and the government is now working in partnership with these councils.
