HOPKINS Correctional Centre and Langi Kal Kal prison are in lockdown on Tuesday night after a prison officer tested positive for COVID-19 in Melbourne.

In a statement, Corrections Victoria advised six prisons across the state were in lockdown after an officer at Ravenhall Correctional Centre was found to have the virus.
Barwon Prison in Geelong, Loddon Prison near Castlemaine and Fulham Prison in Sale were also impacted.
The Ravenhall officer's contact with other staff and prisoners is being determined.
The statement read: "Department of Health and Human Services have been notified and contact tracing is currently underway, with impacted staff and prisoners being notified".

Under Corrections Victoria COVID-19 management plans, prisoners who have made potential contact with the officer are in quarantine units and prisons are undergoing contact tracing and deep cleaning.
This comes just days after a prisoner, who was in protective quarantine at the Metropolitan Remand Centre, tested positive for COVID-19 and was isolated.
