Are you new to Horsham? Or maybe you live alone and want to meet new people. What about looking for a different sport to play or a sport for your kids to play, and don't know where to go. Then this information is for you!
As part of the Rural Access Program, Wimmera Primary Care Partnership has been working in partnership with My Community Directory, with the aim of providing easily accessible and up-to-date information regarding health and community services.
The directory website can be accessed via desktop, or through the "Access My Community" app on people's chosen device.
The directory lists organisations contact details, a description of what they do and similar organisations you may be interested in, ensuring that information is relevant, timely and useful for everyone in the community.
The directory also has landing pages for each shire which list community events and popular search categories, including sporting clubs, hospitals, Men's Sheds, markets, community centres and much more, making it easy to explore what is happening around your area.
Horsham Rural City Council's website has a direct link to the My Community Directory on their website at www.hrcc.vic.gov.au where you can access the Horsham My Community Directory.
From there you able to click on the other Shires and towns in the Wimmera and be taken directly to their pages. The information can be searched either by clicking on a category such as Advocacy Services or Ageing Services for example, or you can search for a category, organisation or keyword in the search bar.
Holly Noonan has recently joined the team as Rural Access Project Officer, working to develop the directory, promoting throughout the community and getting service providers on board. The directory is a key part of the Rural Access Project, which is a community, place-based capacity building project that contributes to the active participation and inclusion of people with disability, including improved access to mainstream and community services. The delivery of My Community Directory ensures all members of the community are free of barriers to accessing information and services, as it is a centralised information portal, available to the public online.
As the directory is still in development, Wimmera Primary Care Partnership would appreciate any feedback or suggestions you have, you can submit your thoughts by emailing holly.noonan@wimmerapcp.org.au. And, if you are part of a community group or you are a health service provider and you aren't currently listed on My Community Directory, you can visit the website and click "list for free" to register.
