The event previously ran in Horsham, but was opened up for other schools in the region to host.
"We were perfectly placed, with students coming from Ballarat and all the way up to Nhill, we were a good middle point," Stawell Secondary College's Amanda Hemley said.
"It was a great chance for students to develop their skills and confidence in contributing to a band.
"For about half the kids it was their first ever sitting in a band and following a conductor. With a lot of beginners there were some nerves early on but by the end of the day, every one of them was happy to do things they thought they couldn't achieve."
Hemley said the event was also an opportunity for older students to develop leadership skills and act as mentors for the younger ones.
