Sergeant Shane Allgood, of Ararat, said three unknown offenders - two males and one female - entered the shop about 2pm wearing hooded jumpers.
They then detached five mobile phones from the display shelves and ran.
"They were only in there for about 30 seconds before they grabbed the phones and left," Sergeant Allgood said.
The offenders then ran down a lane way to Banksia Street and got into a vehicle and drove off in an easterly direction.
Sergeant Allgood said it was difficult to be certain but police suspected they were youths.
