She has been volunteering for the club for the last five years, helping out wherever she can, preparing meals for hungry players and supporters on training nights and during home games.

"If we have a home game and we're having a meal I'm usually cooking the meal, or if we have a social function I'm organizing that and making sure that it runs fairly smoothly," she said.

"When it's all finished I'm locking up and going home."

Mrs Mills began playing netball with the club in 1990 and has since passed the baton on to her two children, Lucy and Tom.

"Both my kids play netball and football and they both started in the under ages," she said. "They are heavily involved with what they do there too, along with my husband Rod, so I think it's just nice that as a family we can be there and enjoy the club."

The club has not only been a central point in her family life, but is like an extended family in and of itself, Mrs Mills said.

"It's a family club and it's really great to be involved with because they make everyone feel welcome and embrace new people," she said. "I enjoy being there."

Mrs Mills said the club encouraged new members to get involved however they could.

"I think once they get involved with the club they do like the atmosphere that we provide, and we try to make sure everyone feels like they are fitting in," she said. "We try to encourage them to be involved."

Ultimately, Mrs Mills said keeping the club running was a group effort.

"It's not about individual volunteers - it's about all the volunteers in the club," she said. "We all do this because we want the club to be successful."
