Carlton's Tom Williamson made his return through his club's VFL team Northern Blues on Saturday afternoon, his first game since mid-2018.
He has battled back issues for several months, but made a triumphant return in his first game back.
Williamson was named among Northern Blues' best on ground in their three-point win over Collingwood VFL.
"I was pretty happy with how everything went," Williamson said.
"I think I played about 80 to 85 per cent game time and I was scheduled to play only about 75 so I was feeling pretty good to be able to do that.
"It was just good to back out on the park and have a kick around again."

It was a good weekend for Williamson and the Blues, with both VFL and AFL teams securing wins.
The Northern Blues won 11.14 (80) to 11.11 (77).
The 20-year-old said he will now eye off a return to the senior side in the coming weeks.
"I pulled up really well with nothing to report other than general soreness," he said.
"Going off my aerobic fitness in the game I think I might need another week in the VFL but I am more than happy to take that step up to the ones if required.
"It was a pretty good feeling to have both sides win after a slow start to the year."
Williamson broke down in his return from injury last year, but he said he had no doubts in is return game this time around.
"I was 100 per cent confident in my body," he said.
"We have great coaches who have looked after me and there is psychologist too which has given me that confidence.
"Once I was out there it was just about playing another game of footy in that competitive mindset."
