Official activities commenced on Saturday with the annual StawellBiz Easter Saturday Sensation.
Children were entertained with activities including a mobile zoo while multiple live performances entertained the crowd.
Sneek-A-Peek owner Adrienne Preston said the day was a huge success.
"This was my best Easter yet," she said.
"My aim, like most retailers, was to be on a par with previous years, but this year really exceeded my expectations.
"During the event, I left my shop to go down one end of the street and it felt like Bourke Street in Melbourne. I had to weave my way through the foot traffic."
Mrs Preston said she took advantage of the influx of tourists to the area and opted to open her clothing and accessory store every day.
"There were lots of people around and Saturday was so busy we had a line-up," she said.
"On Sunday, I had a lot of return customers who weren't able to make a purchase on Saturday.
"It's been a great weekend for my business and I hope for others in Stawell too."
Northern Grampians Shire Council mayor Kevin Erwin said he was delighted in the number of people visiting the region.
"Despite the devastation on our roads on Friday, the weekend started well and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves," he said.
"We've had some really positive feedback on most of the activities. The Off the Track Party on Saturday night was a huge success.
"The weather was perfect and between the street party and the Stawell Lions Club's annual carnival I would estimate around 1000 people were there.
Cr Erwin said despite growing up in the area he can't remember seeing the carnival so crowded.
"The food stalls in the Off the Track party sold out," he said.
"Everyone waited patiently and sometimes had to wait in lines over 20 metres long.
"It shows the potential of the event and the ability for it to grow."
On Sunday morning the new look Lindsay Kent memorial fun run was hosted with runners and walkers making their way through the streets of Stawell.
More than 130 runners crossed the start line at Stawell's Town Hall - taking in the picturesque views of the Grampians as they participated.
The new course included a small section of Central Park - a novelty to run on the iconic ground.
Grampians Wellbeing's Sheree Inglis and Inspired Yoga's Bree Harrison joined forces and a Yoga in the Park event at Cato Park on Sunday morning.
The event was well attended with many visitors to the region participating among the autumn leaves.
The Stawell Lions Club's annual carnival was full of life on Saturday night with large crowds attending the event.
"Saturday night was the busiest night it has ever been," long-serving committee member Ray Graham said.
"We've had really good feedback about the event and everyone has supported us really well."
