Hamilton recorded the first professional win of his career at the weekend at the 2019 Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali.
Hamilton enjoyed success along with his Mitchelton-Scott teammates, with the team taking all three places on the podium.
"It's my first professional win, and I love racing in Italy, so it's nice to win an Italian race and to achieve one, two, three, that makes it a little bit more special," Hamilton said.
"I still had Damo (Damien Howson) and Nick (Schultz) helping me out even though they were second and third, that shows the attitude that this team has."

Hamilton had plenty of watchers from his hometown giving him support from the other side of the world, including his father and Ararat District Cycling Club president Bruce Hamilton.
Hamilton said he followed his son's ride in the multi-stage race closely.
"He had a very solid first day where they rode about 100 kilometres in the morning before a team time trial in the afternoon which his team won," he said.
"He then finished second on quite a hilly stage. He finished behind a guy who has won Tour de France stages so that was something for him to be proud of.
"The final day was a loop course that was quite flat except for a steep climb every lap. Lucas ended up retaining the leader's jersey and claiming the win."
Hamilton said it was a proud moment to see his son enjoy his first taste of success at that level.
"It is good for him to get that one out of the road. He was coming off a solid season in Australia so he deserved the win," he said.
Hamilton said his son's success is not only something he should be proud of but also the whole of Ararat and the region.
"For me it's all about the perspective he is from Ararat and people can sort of claim ownership and follow Lucas' journey together," he said.
"It is great to have someone from a small country town doing well and for people in the community following how his career continues to pan out."
