Stawell Orchid Society members are always willing to share their knowledge and love of this striking flower.
Members of the Stawell Orchid Society will meet on Friday, April 5 for their monthly meeting.
The meeting, to be held at the clubrooms, in Laidlaw Park in Patrick Street, will commence at 7.30pm with a popular vote.
Michael has been growing orchids since he was eight-years-old, and he has been exhibiting in the open section at club meetings since he was 11.
The club invites guest speakers to its monthly meetings.
Guest speaker at Friday night's meeting is Michael J Coker - the proprietor of Boutique Orchids.
Michael has been growing orchids since he was eight-years-old, and he has been exhibiting in the open section at club meetings since he was 11.
He is currently President of the Orchid Societies Council of Victoria, president of the North East Melbourne Orchid Society, vice president of the Orchid Species Society of Victoria, as well as a member of a number of other clubs.
Michael is a regular guest speaker at orchid societies in Victoria and has also undertaken a number of international speaking engagements.
He is a fully accredited judge in the OSCOV judging panel.
Michael has been awarded around 40 quality and culture awards from the OSCOV Panel and has won 12 categories in the OSCOV Victorian Orchids of the Year in the last six years.
At each meeting, the society has a segment called "The Who, What, When, Where and why".
This segment allows a member (Who) to discuss, What they grow, When is the best time to water and feed etc, Where they grow their orchids and Why for members to ask questions, this is a great way for novice growers to learn how other members grow their orchids.
All are welcome to come along and learn about growing orchids.
