The smell of smoke and a haze settling over towns in the region has been noticeable recently, but CFA District 16 operations officer Ian Morley said the smoke has not originated from the area.
“With easterly winds the smoke has flowed from the fires currently burning at Gippsland,” he said.
“We are expecting to get a bit more of that today. People may smell or notice a bit of smoke around.
“It is nothing to be concerned about, but if people should be wary if they are affected by the smoke.”
The smoke was noticeable in Stawell on Tuesday evening, with many community members getting a good view of the haze from atop Big Hill.
