Family members traveled from north Queensland, the Gold Coast and Sydney to attend the celebrations at the Ararat RSL, followed by a barbecue lunch at Alexandra Gardens the next day.
Victor Barwick Jnr said Mr Barwick “was very happy and appreciative of all who could make it.”
Mr Barwick arrived from England in 1949 with his wife and two children.
Today he has six children, 23 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mr Barwick faced many challenges since his arrival in Australia 68 years ago, but with hard work he was able to provide a home and raise his six children.
Over the years Mr Barwick has worked in quarrying and he was a gas worker in three towns, including Ararat.
His last job before retiring was at Aradale Hospital.
After retiring Mr Barwick enjoyed many holidays, visiting family in Queensland and Victoria, and also visited England four times to catch up with family there.
