With results released last Friday, the top students of the class of 2018 were announced on the night.
Riley Hackwill was named as the VCE dux while Lucy Webster took out the VCAL dux award.
Hackwill recorded on ATAR of 93.50, the best of his class. He was the only student at the school to finish with an ATAR over 90.
“He is mostly a maths and science student but he topped the school in a number of VCE subjects like physics, maths methods and English,” senior school assistant principal Aaron Dalziel said.

“He also studied specialist maths by correspondence which is not an easy job. He did that by the Bendigo Virtual School.
“He showed a lot of dedication to keep himself focused.”
Webster was named as the VCAL dux having completed more units of competency than any other VCAL students at the school.
“Lucy also completed a number of community based roles as part of her studies, ranging from helping at Skene Street School, Eventide Homes and even organising a camp for all year 11 and 12 students to Melbourne,” Mr Dalziel said.
Mr Dalziel said school captain Monique Kennedy-Reid also stood out with her results, receiving a study score of 45 for health and human development.
Overall school scores were also released this week, with Stawell Secondary one of the big improvers in the region.
The school’s median study score lifted from 24 in 2017 to 26 this year.
“We are really happy with the improvement, it is a bit of a reward for all the hard work students and teachers put in throughout the year,” Mr Dalziel said.
Ararat College’s median study score dropped from 26 to 24 while Marian College’s fell slightly, down one point from 27 to 26.
