The under-13s game was cancelled, but the under-15 team managed to bat through their innings and even got halfway through their first over before the heavens opened up.
Despite the weather impacting the games, Grampians Cricket Association junior co-coordinator Jason Hosemans, said it had no impact on the rest of the fixtures.
“The under-13s got cancelled so they will play one less game in their country week,” he said.
“They will have just the three games in the first week of January and that will be it for them.
“Because it is a tight fixture as far as getting everyone organised, there is so many grounds available so unfortunately that game won’t be played at another time, it just gets equal points to all teams.”
“No fixture change, no draw change just one less game to get a result from basically.”
It would leave a massive hole for the team as they would have to make up for lost time.
“It just means that they (the organisers ) would have two games that they need to work out who’s playing who whether its one plays two, three plays four, five plays six and that sort of things down the draw.”
Meanwhile the under-15s will also play a game less, as their match got abandoned
Country week begins in the first week of January, starting from Wednesday to Friday.
