We pride ourselves on being a fun and hard-working group of people who love to support and serve our local community, while also enjoying social activities on a regular basis.
We hold a business meeting once a month on the second Wednesday of the month at the Lions Club “shed” in McNeill Street in Ararat, as well as a monthly dinner meeting on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
We assist with local community and fundraising events like:
- Regular Saturday morning BBQs
- Youth of the Year
- Lions Christmas Cakes
- Scholarships at local schools
- Special needs – provided a Mobility Walker
- Funded a Lions Hearing Dog – (Epilepsy)
- Share the Dignity Campaign
- Ararat Skate Park
- Highway clean-ups
- Anglicare – Mentor program
We are proud supporters of the Ararat Hospital, donating to a named hospital room in the recent hospital upgrade and providing ongoing support in the x-ray department upgrades.
We have also provided regular and recent catering at Grampians Ride To Remember, Pitch Festival, AME, Queens Baton Relay, Elmhurst Twilight Market, Great Western Tennis Club, Golden Gateway Festival Australia Day celebrations, Anzac Day, Windfarm and to Sam Mac from Channel 7’s Sunrise.
In December in the lead up to Christmas, our Lions members will be out and about in Barkly Street selling Lions Christmas cakes and puddings and selling raffle tickets.
Tickets are $1, with the prize a barrow full of goodies to be drawn prior to Christmas.
