SIX CFA tankers and two aircraft attended a blaze at Green Hill Lake Reserve Friday afternoon.
Crews from Langi Logan, Warrak, Great Western, Stawell and Buangor attended the grass fire, with the aircraft dumping water on the scene.
CFA District 16 operations officer Malcolm Bruce said crews were on scene and got the fire quickly under control within an hour.
Investigations into the cause of the blaze are pending and police presence was requested.
Advice warning of smoke in the area was sent out about 2.45pm and will remain in place until about 6pm.
Earlier in the day CFA crews received a report of smoke issuing from a truck.
The alert was received at 1.40pm but crews did not attend. It is not known which direction the truck was travelling in.

EMERGENCY services are attending a grass fire in a paddock by Green Hill Lake Road.
The Country Fire Authority was alerted to the blaze at 2.45pm Friday afternoon.
At the time of publishing the blaze was not under control.
Two fire trucks from Ararat CFA are in attendance.
A separate report of smoke nearby was also received but details are still emerging.
