A TRAFFIC light pole has been knocked down at a busy Ararat intersection, causing minor delays in traffic.
Leading Senior Constable Anthony Passalick of Ararat said that police were notified about 1pm that a truck travelling south-bound on Vincent Street had clipped the pole on the traffic island between lanes as it turned left into High Street.
The entire pole was knocked down, and Constable Passalick said it was lucky there had been no cars in the way.
The SES was called to help remove the pole by sawing it up and taking it piece by piece off the road.
Police have been on site directing traffic and expect the road to be open before 5pm.
