Jackson, the 2018 senior coach, received the accolade at the club’s presentation night for dedication and his contribution around the club.
“I have played just over 100 games for the club, but due to injury have been on the sidelines doing various jobs for the club,” he said.
Jackson started at the club in 2002.
In reflecting on his time at the club, Jackson said he loved playing football with some of his best mates.
“One of the most memorable moments at the club was a sportsmen's night I co-ordinated for the club a few years ago. It was a great night to showcase to the wider community what the club is all about,” he said.
Jackson said he was shocked, honoured and overwhelmed when his life membership was announced.
“I was only expecting to perform my role as senior coach,” he said.
“I knew Brent Bulger was going to receive his life membership as he reached his milestone of 200 games. I thought I was fortunate enough to be able to coach and play alongside him for his achievement at the club.”
Bulger this year became the youngest footballer to play 200 games for Eagles.
He said although “the wins weren’t always there”, it was great to meet new people and be a part of the club.
“We are slowly building to success and I hope people who have come over to the club continue to stay on,” he said.
Bulger said although the senior team he played in had not had a lot of recent success, it was great to see the club as a whole improving.
“Our B Grade netball side won the premiership this year – it was great to be a part of that as a club,” he said.
Bulger said he had considered chasing success at another club at times.
“Every time I thought about moving on, I always wondered if I would bring the same passion and if my heart would be in it. It would mean a whole lot more to achieve success at the Eagles,” he said.
Jackson announced he would not re-commit to coaching next year due to family and work commitments, but would stay at the club.
“Life membership at a football club is one of the best accolades you can receive. I will be around the club and working with them when I can,” he said.
