The Redbacks hosted Horsham Hornets in a practice match on Monday, September 24.
Newly appointed coach Marcus Jenkins said he was really happy with how the practice match went and it was a “good hit out for us”.
Jenkins said the players have performed well during pre-season.
“Pre-season was probably a lot different to what they are used to. I expect a lot from the players. They have taken everything on board and we are in a great position,” he said.
Jenkins said although a number of young players form part of the team he is looking forward to a successful season.
“Although we are a young side, we are there to win games. It is a learning experience and we will be there to match it with the big teams,” he said.
With the excitement of the season building, Jenkins hopes the community attends games and supports the players representing the town.
“We hope to get some really good crowds at the games. There will be no backwards steps taken by any of the players on the court,” he said.
The Redbacks have announced 15 players to form the squad for the 2018 season. Jason Cameron, Craig Cooper, Zac Dunmore and Josh Fiegert have been named as the players leadership team.
