The last time Horsham and Horsham Saints faced each other was round 10.
While the teams played off in round one – with Demons comfortably winning – both coaches disregard the outcome with Saints full-side not on court.
The round 10 nail-biter had Saints gain the upper-hand when they beat Demons by just one-goal.
Horsham Demons coach Pauline Butler said consistency was her team’s downfall when they came up against Saints. She said stringing four consistent quarters together would be the sides’ focus.
“The second game against Saints was just a matter of consistency for us. The ball was turned over too much in the last quarter,” she said.
“We will need to look at four consistent quarter for the grand final.”
Butler said predicting the winner was too hard and would likely be a close encounter.
“We match up well across the court. Our teams have similar styles and abilities in some ways,” she said. “I think one wrong match up could potentially win or lose us the game.
“But, finals we are expecting a close encounter, but it’s too hard to predict – it could go one way or the other.”
Horsham Saints coach Shannon Reinheimer said her team was unprepared the first time they faced Demons this year.
“The first half the season we had a lot of players away and we hadn’t played together as a team. Coming into round 10 we had our A grade side settled,” she said.
Reinheimer said both sides had “fast, dynamic players” across the court, which was cause for a hotly contested ball.
“It is going to be team-on-team. Both mid-courts are fast and dynamic and both goal defence and shooting ends have tall, consistent players,” she said.
“Demons’ Emma Buwalda is a very good shooter who will dominate the circle,” she said.
“But, Maggie Caris has a huge height advantage in the goal circle and at our defence end Rene Caris’ height will help get rebounds and bring the ball down.”
