The students will be performing an original musical called Another High School Musical: Bring it On.
Director Janine Poole said the script was one big mash-up of much-loved movies – High School Musical meets Bring it On with elements of Footloose, Glee and Hellcats.
She said an original musical has allowed many students to step up and take on bigger roles, which they have done with great enthusiasm.
“When writing the script, I wanted to make sure there were a lot of big parts for students to take on, which means we have quite a few leads” she said.
Ms Poole said the students had worked hard to bring their characters to life and ensure the production would entertain.
“We have a cast of amazing singers and actors that will impress the audience with their skills and choreography,” she said.
“I cannot wait for parents to see their children in this production as so many of them will shine.
“We have a bright future for plays at this school, which is shown in the singing, dancing and acting skills that will be on stage.”
Jack Ward will step into the role of Rufus while Toneya Hurst takes on the role of Vanessa.
Other leads include Lauren Bowles as Sharpay, Evee Cosgriff as Scarlett, Georgia Jenkins as Sue Sylvester, James Mullin as Principal Scribble, Connor Sheffield as Zak, Ella Wood as Britney, Amy Wood as Whitney, Sophie Graham as Tiffany, Amber Baulch as Persia and Case Maxwell as Chad.
Jack is not new to the stage having performed in two Ararat College productions. He said the school production was a great way to work with new people.
Toneya said taking on a lead role was a big step for her, which she was excited to take. She said the songs were her favourite part about the production.
Another High School Musical: Bring it On will be on stage at the Ararat Town Hall from August 9 to 10.
