The match was built up as a first versus second battle but the Magpies quickly showed why they are rightfully firm premiership favourites in the first term.
They kicked 59 points to one in the opening quarter to set an ominous tone for the remainder of the match for the Hawks.
Tatyoon went scoreless in the second quarter as the lead blew out past the 100-point mark.
The Magpies slowed things down slightly in the second half but did not waver in defence, preventing the Hawks from scoring a goal for the entire game. They ended up winning 25.18 (168) to 0.4 (4).
“They kicked a few quick goals and our guys just laid down from then on,” Tatyoon coach Simon Brearley said.
“We knew it was going to be a tough game but it is extremely disappointing not to kick a goal.”
12 Magpies kicked goals in the thrashing, with Tas Clingan leading the way with five.
Michael Otto was named as best on ground for the victors.
“We obviously didn’t expect to win by quite that much. A really good start set it up for us,” Magpies co-coahc Nigel Otto said.
“Everyone contributed and our back six was fantastic all day. They were desperate all day.”
The Hawks were missing a cast of senior players but Brearley said that is no excuse for the effort from his team on Saturday.
“With a few senor players out we just didn’t have the leadership out there to change things,” he said.
“I would have expected us to have a bit more fight.
“There will be some players embarrassed by it and hopefully a bit of impetus for the next few games to bounce back.”
Brearley said his side will try and move on from the match and focus on a tough three remaining rounds.

“There is only room to improve, we won’t be dwelling too much on it,” he said.
“We have a job to do over the next few weeks to finish top three so that is where our focus is now.”
The Hawks lost more than 25 per cent with the loss and slipped from second to third, two points clear of fourth.
