Seventh-placed SMW Rovers are gathering momentum and overpowered third placed Penshurst to win by 19 points.
Ladder-leader Wickliffe-Lake Bolac continued to dominate the season defeating Caramut by 177 points.
The board met this Wednesday night at Lake Bolac for its monthly meeting, it was then followed by the mid year club forum, this was a chance for the board and clubs to engage and deal with any questions or issues that clubs or the board may have.
One of the main topics was the correct use of social media, it was mentioned that all clubs should remind all club members of their duty off care when using social media.
Centre Bounce recently had a chat with a very modest League legend and all round great guy Scott Astbury.
he is regarded by many as one of the best footballers to pull on a jumper in the league’s history.
He played for Tatyoon from the early 80s until the late 90s, playing in three premierships in over 300 games . He is a seven time Best and Fairest winner at Tatyoon.
The veteral plan also played a season at the Ararat Football Club in 1987 winning the senior best and fairest by over 60 votes.
Astbury played as centre half-forward for the first half of his career then made the switch to centre half-back until he retired.
The jury is out on which end of the ground he played better football at, most Tatyoon supporters would have loved him in at both ends of the field.
The league legend is regarded by many as the best mark they have seen in country footy with his most memorable game being the grand final victory in 1998.
He said it was a great feeling after the disappointment of losing the previous year, going through the whole year undefeated only to lose the grand final.
Astbury said that they turned over a lot of players after the 97 loss and gradually built up momentum to win in 1998.
His football philosophy was simple.
“Keep it Simple, pick your best side always, train hard like its your last game”.
well if it worked for this legend who am I to argue.
Finally a great friend sent me this
