The Baggies recorded their fifth win of the season, an effort which has not been achieved by a Swifts A Grade side “in years”.
Taking the Bombers on at their home court at Quantong, the Baggies made the perfect start, breaking out to an early 14-6 lead.
The Bombers were able to steady things in the next three quarters but the lead was too great, as Swifts held on for a 43-34 win.
The win snapped a two-match losing streak for the Baggies.
“The girls really brought their A game after a few losses,” Swifts coach Courtney Morrow said.
“It was good to come away with the win.”
Morrow said the break over the long weekend last week came at a great time for her team.
“We had a few injuries so it was nice to rest up a bit,” she said.
“The week off really helped us finish the game strongly this weekend.”
The win was crucial for Swifts’ finals aspirations, as they move into fifth position on the A Grade ladder, two games and 10 per cent clear of the seventh-placed Bombers.
“This week the girls really wanted the win, we knew how important it was,” Morrow said.
“We played out the whole four quarters with a real team effort.”
The Baggies face the ultimate test next weekend, coming up against undefeated ladder leaders Laharum.
