The Lions sit at outside the top five with two wins from five games, with one of the losses by a single goal to the Eagles.
Despite the ladder position, coach Amy Kindred said she was really happy with how the team is tracking.
“We are learning each week,” she said.
“When we played Lismore-Derrinallum, we didn't stick to our game as much as we had in the past
“The inexperience really got to us, it should have been more competitive than it was.
“We do still need to remember it is our first year back and we are going to make mistakes but it is about minimising them when we can.”
Kindred injured her ankle in round five and will miss a significant amount of time but the loss will be partly covered by the expected return of some key players following the bye weekend.
She said while the injuries made it tough for continuity and consistency on the court, it gave some of the juniors a chance to experience senior netball.
“Sophie Graham stepped up to goal shooter last week and she slotted in really well,” she said.
“They are going to have to play senior netball at some point, so it is a good chance for them to experience it now.”
The Lions have a history of being unable to field A Grade teams but with some promising junior players coming up through the ranks, it looks to be a thing of the past.
