Organisers were expecting 4000 people to attend the Great Western Rodeo on Good Friday.
The rodeo schedule included a variety of events including steer riding and different roping events.
During the past three years, there has been about a 50 per cent increase in competitor numbers at the event.
Event manager Danny Hoare said it was due to the event is starting to develop its own reputation on the rodeo circuit.
“Three years ago there was about 120 people competing on the day and now it has grown to the stage where last year we had about 190, which was great.”
Hoare said the rodeo had developed into one of the most popular events during the weekend.
"It adds to the activity in the Grampians over that weekend and it provides good publicity for the region as well,” he said.
“We reckon about 80 per cent of the people who come to the rodeo are from outside the area.”
