Mick has been growing his mullet for more than seven years and has no plans to chop it.
He says he doesn’t really know how he started growing it, just that he went to the hairdressers one day and ended up coming home with the “top chopped off” much to his parents displeasure.
“My mates all had a laugh at the time,” he said.
“Most people have a laugh and give me a wave and a lot of people want to touch it.”
While based in Sydney’s Hawkesbury district Mick spends around four months of the year working on-farm for the West family at Quandialla in the Central West driving machinery for harvest and sowing.
But no matter where he is, the diesel mechanic says the mullet always gets a good reaction.
Dozens of entries were received when The Land put out the call to find Ag’s Best Mullet with only five of them making it through to the finalist round for public voting.
The votes came in thick and fast but when voting closed on Thursday night there was one clear winner.
Mick will take home a The Land prizepack as well as the honour of the title Agriculture’s Best Mullet for his fantastic 1980’s inspired ‘do.
