Stawell is in the Wimmera fire ban region, which had a forecast for ‘extreme’ fire danger conditions on Saturday.
Ararat’s South West region had a severe fire danger forecast for Saturday.
No fires can be lit in the open air in the region between one minute past midnight and 11.59pm on January 6.
The Country Fire Authority has advised residents that the fire danger rating for the Wimmera was extreme with a hot day forecast.
People living in areas at risk of fire are advised to activate their bush fire plan.
The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a maximum temperature of 42 degrees on Saturday.
Overnight temperatures will fall to between 19 and 22 degrees.
There will be light winds becoming north to northwesterly at 25 to 40 kilometres per hour during the morning then shifting gusty southwesterly during the afternoon.
